New CDs to Look For

We’re always ordering new CDs for our libraries, and here are a few that will be hitting the shelves soon. If you have any suggestions for albums that you’d like to see at your local library, fill out this Suggest a Purchase form and we’ll see if we can get them for you.

Rihanna - Unapologetic

Rihanna returns with her 7th studio album, Unapologetic (available in an explicit version and an edited version), which features the single “Diamonds.”

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 Soundtrack

Featuring a diverse group of artists, including Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Green Day, Feist, and Christine Perri, the new Breaking Dawn Part 2 Soundtrack comes out on November 13th, which is just a few days before the final installment of the movie franchise hits theaters. Check out the Christine Perri video for “A Thousand Years” for some clips from the film.

Glee: The Music Presents Glease

Have you ever seen Grease? Young Johnny Travolta (the guy who once traded faces with Nicholas Cage) plays Danny Zuko, a greaser who falls for Sandy Olsson, who is played by Olivia Newton-John. Then there’s Rizzo and Frenchy and Putzie. And don’t forget Principal Mcgee! It’s got some really catchy songs and the cast from Glee are back with their take on these popular ditties. (ROFL if you’re like “What’s this guy talking about?”)

Pitch Perfect Soundtrack

Like the a capella/glee club format of Glee, but want something new? Check out the soundtrack from the recent movie Pitch Perfect, which features Anna Kendrick, who was also in Twilight. With a mix of new and old hits, this is a feel good listen that puts a slightly different spin on the Glee phenomenon.

Ever wonder what it means when you see an item in the library’s catalog and it’s in capital letters? Does it mean that we’re REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ITEM!!!!? Are we YELLING? Nope. When new items are ordered, they show up in the catalog in all caps until they actually arrive at the libraries. When the items are ready to be checked out, the listing in the catalog changes to regular text. The cool thing about this is that you can place holds on items as soon as we order them. Even better, if you’re under 18 we waive your hold fees! So get your name on the list quick and be one of the first people to check out some popular new items.

Author Bio:

Tommy M likes it when new CDs arrive at the library. He knows the truth about the ALL CAPS, but prefers to think that the catalog is yelling at him.
