Soul Surfer Soul Surfer : A True Story Of Faith, Family, And Fighting To Get Back On The Board by Bethany Hamiltonis definitely one of the most popular stories around right now. Tons of people are checking it out at the library. This true story is based on 13 year old Bethany Hamilton’s life-changing encounter with a 14-foot tiger shark while surfing in Hawaii in 2003. She survived the attack, but lost her left arm. Despite this, she famously stayed strong and continued her quest to become a pro surfer—she was back on her board a month after the accident!

The Movie

Her story was turned into a movie starring AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia, Race to Witch Mountain). Soul Surfer on DVD is now available at the library!
